After inviting the "Los Angeles Times" to write an extensive profile extolling the liquid treasures of his collection, Roth finds himself the victim of a world-class wine heist. Enter Sam Levitt, former corporate, cultivated crime expert, and wine connoisseur, who follows his leads as he tracks down the source of a multimillion dollar wine heist--a trail that leads him to Bordeaux and its magnificent vineyards, and to Provence to meet an eccentric billionaire collector who might possibly have an interest in the stolen wines.

Add a CommentA charming summer read for the francophile. The plot is lively and the characters charming but pretty stereotypical and not complex. As there is travel thriugh France you get the vicarious enjoyment of the descriptions of the meals and wine. A fun light read.
Mayle hit his peak with the Provence experiences but proves to be a bland, mundane novelist relying on his early success to sell these mindless tales. Your second or third re-read of "A Year In Provence" will be much more entertaining than opening this one.
Amusing L.A. character description with a fun, light-hearted, predictable plot.
