A collection of 7 short stories, set in northwest Mississippi in fictional Ford County and its town of Clanton. None of the stories are connected with the others, apart from general area and people with legal issues. Enjoyed most of the…

Enjoyable and easy reading. Character development is smooth and relatable.

John Grisham is generally a very good writer but certainly needs to hire someone else to narrate his books. He does a terrible job as do most authors who try this. This is the worst of his that I attempted to listen to. Come on John!

Short stories so enjoyable that I didn't want them to end!

A collection of flawed characters, for the most part, not all. Stories begin rather simply, buildup later.

Whichever side of Grisham's character you like best, you can find it here, from barely legal madcap escapades to righteous indignation at social injustice. Each of the well-rounded morsels in this collection does contain some of his biting…

It is a collection of short stories - so be aware of that. It means you can read them as stand alone and they do not necessarily connect to each other. It is a good practice to read one and then stop before moving on the next story as it…

A wonderful collection of short stories which look closely and deeply at the human condition; the characters are very different in each story, but if you are Southern, you will recognize each one. Grisham is easily as good a writer as…

Tried to listen to this audiobook of short stories. The first story is aimless and not even good enough for a character study. I listened to the second, but could not finish the third. I just returned this audiobook without getting past…

*** stars. In his first collection of short stories John Grisham takes us back to Ford County, Mississippi, the setting of his first novel, "A Time to Kill". The Stories: Wheelchair-bound Inez Graney and her two older sons, Leon and…

The first story disc is very funny, about the trouble young rural men can get themselves into when they travel to Memphis on a good-will mission. The other stories deal mostly with issues such as fraud in Senior Care centers and…

Start with in depth details, add some drinking and driving along with a visit to a strip club and this begins "Blood Drive." You maybe surprised by the turn of events. John Grisham takes readers into the South with some "wild tall tales"…

The 7 stories in this book were fair, but far from enthralling. The last 2 were the better ones, most just seem to end, without any type of conclusion. The narrator did a nice job with the accents. My conclusion is that Grisham is a much…

Very disappointing! The stories are not interesting, they convey no message or idea.

Seriously?!?! In my opinion I could have skiped this one. I cannot believe Grisham actually published this book. There is no content, it is just ideas for books that did not pan out. It is just plots with nothing else.

An interesting collection of stories...Grisham has little regard for lawyers, and he aught to know.

Very enjoyable read. Not a fan of all Grisham books. I would put this one near the top.

The five or six stories are very absorbing and heart-warming. Especially the last story is poignant and revealing of one's woes due to AIDS.

Yikes, pretty bad unless you're into boring and grusome stories. It's a good thing his works got better with time. Admittedly, I'm not a lover of the old South. 0 of 10 stars

This book of short stories is about a small town and should appeal to many Halton Hills readers. It is vintage Grisham full of deep south characters he knows best, Some are good and some not so good. This is a study in human nature.
