Hoshmakaka is a proud camel who, even by his own admission, is getting on in years. One night while he lies in the desert sands, dreaming of all the water in the world and a hump that holds an entire sea, he is disturbed by voices telling him that he has been chosen to perform a very special task: he is to carry gifts to a new baby king. Resignedly, Hoshmakaka accepts, and sets out on what will be the most difficult and important journey of his long life. Along the way, even as he grumbles from the weight of the gifts, he slowly begins to comprehend the gravity of his task. (1998)
