Destined delivers all the romance and action that fans expect as it brings Aprilynne Pike's Wings series to a deeply satisfying conclusion.

Laurel used to think she was an ordinary girl from Crescent City, California. She never would have believed she was truly a faerie from a realm called Avalon.

Now Laurel must risk her life to save Avalon from destruction by Yuki--a rare and powerful Winter faerie--and troll-hunter Klea. But Laurel won't have to fight alo≠ David and Tamani, two boys she loves in different ways, will be by her side, along with her best friend, Chelsea.

Readers of the Need and Graceling series will want to follow Laurel's story from its beginning in Wings to its heart-stopping end in Destined.

Incredible. Perfect. Amazing. Sorrowful. Disturbing.
This book was great. I am so glad to have read this series, because the finale makes up for any annoyances the previous novels had. I didn't expect the events that came to be, which shocked and intrigued me.
SO, warning, my review will contain plenty of spoilers.
This book starts up right were the last one left off- with Yuki tied to a chair in the middle of a salt ring. Soon, Klea comes to free her, and fighting ensues. Tamani and Laurel retreat from the fray for safety when Yuki is set free. Later, Shar calls Tamani on his phone (finally figuring out the controls and buttons), just in time to here him get shot and killed by Klea (who is actually an exiled faerie). Wait, what!? I couldn't believe it a first. I was in denial. No way would Shar get killed off!! He's Tamani's best friend! That's when I knew the tone for this book would be a lot different than the others. Laurel and her friends race to Avalon to protect and defend it. David is given the mighty sword, Excalibur, that can't kill faeries and doesn't let any harm come to its handler. (Honestly, if I could use a sword like that, I think I would just go around killing as many trolls as possible while the others left to do their thing. But hey, maybe that's just me). Before the troll attack, the queen announces that no help will be coming from her in the fighting and retreats. Then, chaos erupts all over Avalon. The trolls are rampaging through the Garden, murdering in Spring, and slashing through Summer. I was not expecting such gory-ness, but no matter how sad, that was exactly how I imagined it would be if trolls were let loose in Avalon. Then, at the Academy, the Fall faeries seem to be holding their own pretty well, until part of the building catches fire and Klea fills it with poisonous, deadly gas. This infuriated me. I felt so bad for all the unfortunate faeries who were caught up in the red smoke! And when the conscious survivors were trying to drag the alive, unconscious Mixer's, but had to practically chose who they could save, my heart broke. And Katya's death just stomped on all the little broken pieces.
After that, while Jamison fights (and loses to) Yuki, Klea seems to gt the upper hand in her fight with Tamani. Before she can kill him, Yuki comes to the rescue. Unfortunately, the circumstances following this include Yuki, Tamani and Klea getting poisoned. Laurel tries to find a cure as quickly as possible, in doing so, actually infecting herself, but before she can whip up the antidote, Yuki is dead, giving up the last of her strength to create a key for the Gates. Klea dies also, but Laurel heals Tamani moments before it was too late. With Avalon saved, and the hint of future rebellion in the air, Laurel and her friends go home.
Plus, Laurel finally chose Tamani!!!!!!!!!! XD Yes!!!! Thank you! This made me so happy!
I'm not going to listen to the Last Word at the end of the book, because in my mind, David and Chelsea got, and stayed, together, and no one had to lose their memory of what occurred.
Anyways, great book and great series.

Really great conclusion to a unique faerie series. First ending is nice and sweet and mostly happy. If that's what you like, do as the author suggests and don't continue reading her originally planned ending which is extremely fitting, but heart-breaking and bittersweet.

This book was great. the whole series was. Alot of action and fighting that you didn't see coming. Avalon took a major hit. David having to fight so much and be so brave in the face of things he had only come to learn about. the nightmares he would have later. I am glad Laurel ended up with Tamani but I felt for David. I would have liked an Epilogue on on how Laurel and Tamani were doing (Tamani adapting to living in the human world (workwise and such) I am assuming out at the cabin staying close the the gate though it is not said. We sort of got one on Chelsea and David but not how I wanted :( the ending Certainly left you thinking. I wonder how many years later the time frame is for the letter? It was a great book with a bittersweet ending (still not sure if I am glad I read the very last of the book or left the ending the way it was before reading editors note about David's letter). Anyone else feel this way after reading it? overall I highly recommend the Wings series. Aprilynne Pike is an excellent writer and I will continue to read books she puts out.

NO NO NO! It's over! I LOVED this series! But i have to be honest This book wasn't as good as the third one Illusions. it didn't have enough romance for me but it was still worth it to read. i loved how the author shows you the war and makes it seem like you were there living it. I really felt like i was in the war and the way Tamani looked at laurel made my heart stop. The way the author described Tamani emotions towards Laurel in the series in my opinion was epic. You don't get that emotion from any guy now a days and the way she described Tamani as character is unforgettable! I am very sad that this is the last book becuase Tamani was a character to be remembered forever. I loved how Laurel and Tamnai related to each other in the story and how Tamani said he would die for Laurel. He is one special guy to hold onto. Great and UNFORGETTABLE Series! I can't wait to read another book by the author! Great Story :)

"wherever we're going today, i want you with me, and never want you to leave my side again." "i don't care if you guard and protect me- all i care is that you love me.I want you to kiss me good night before I go to sleep and bid me good morning the moment I wake up. And not just today; tomorrow and the next day and every day for the rest of my life. Will you come with me, Tamani? Be with me?"

"Tamani looked at her gravely, and then reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear. He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the side of her face, pulling her to him. He didn't kiss her, just held her face close to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching. She hated how much this felt like goodbye"
