Normally, I read series in order. I haven't read these that way. I picked this one because of an interest in the Library of Congress. I did learn about how the LOC--or LC as those who work there call it--functions in normal times. But of course murder is not normal in this setting, which provides plenty of excitement. The plot doesn't really get going until close to the middle, when the LC's murder occurs A seemingly unrelated killing opens the book. Tying the two together is a complex job left to a complex woman journalist. Many of the characters are one-dimensional, but a few are satisfying, including the sleuth and her husband.
