After seeing the documentary "Inside 24 Sussex" recently (hosted by Catherine Clark) I decided to read Maureen Mcteer's book on three residences used by our Prime Ministers (24 Sussex and Harrington Lake) as well as Stornoway (residence of the official leader of the opposition). The most interesting part of her book is the transformation of these residences from private homes to public residences. These buildings are brought to life by Ms. McTeer's description of the various owners and their families as well as various tenants such as Queen Julianna during the Second World War. Interestingly enough, Ms. McTeer mentions, in the documentary, that there is no true historical value to 24 Sussex that should prevent the Canadian Government from tearing it down and building a new, more beautiful residence. I disagree!
