Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room, until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large, Professor James Moriarty, and not only is he Holmes's intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may give him an advantage over the renowned detective. Holmes's investigation into Moriarty's plot becomes more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany, and finally Switzerland.

I liked the first one better, but not terrible though.

Robert Downey Jr. did a great job playing Sherlock Holmes. The story with fun to watch. Highly recommended.

not bad, mix of slow and action (matrix style) which I'm not sure I liked. Would have preferred more deduction. As always good banter, but not a super interesting plot (I never REALLY felt the conflict/edge of my seat)

Director Guy Ritchie's special effects work is at times pretty dazzling. The images of artillery shells slicing through trees in slow motion are, admittedly, cool. But once you get past those visuals, his story quickly wears thin. Watching Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law pound the pavement and the bad guys, there is nothing more than yet another calculated, soulless play for moviegoers' dollars, I thought. The fact that all the mysteries got unraveled in a chess game between Moriarty and Holmes is not just creative, but really shows the level of intensity between these two. The movie did have some comedy and sexual content, such as people kissing and naked men… but it isn’t too bad. After all, there was some humor in almost every single scene. I think this movie is one of the best “British accent” movies you’ll ever see.

Yes, there is not much to resemble Conan Doyle's character, but the movie is so good, Downey's acting is so great, it does not matter. I don't think there is a single actor/actress I did not like in this movie. English is not my mother tongue, yet, I had no trouble understanding Robert Downey Jr.. I watched it more than once and even bought the DVD.

Awesome! Thrilling, lots of action and funny! This was the first Sherlock Holmes with Rob Lowe that I saw and both he and Judd Law are incredible! Will have to rent the other one to watch how it all started!

Full agreement with Ms. Steinert below. Sad that the roles Noomi Rapace are acting in lately really don't display her full talent.

The movie was not as good as Downey's first out as Sherlock. It would be a good idea to end the franchise now. Still it is an okay movie for a nothing else to do rainy day.

Sherlock Holmes: Uh, hmm... Right. Where are the wagons?

Madam Simza Heron: The wagon is too slow. Can't you ride?

Dr. John Watson: It's not that he can't ride... How is it you put it, Holmes?

Sherlock Holmes: They're dangerous at both ends and... crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs?
