Pee Wee Herman is a goof!

Dec 03, 2014

Never before has a movie been so unique and with such unusual star. "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" is the makings of director Tim Burton. This was his first full length film. The jokes are non-stop since it is the world of Pee Wee Herman. This is the best of Paul Reuben's work as Pee Wee Herman. He really has a great script and he makes the most of it. This is humor for the whole family.

I can't believe I made it this far in my life without having seen this movie. I wish I had made it a little longer. A few chuckles did nothing to make me like the character of Pee-Wee Herman any more than I did before (and that isn't much). I guess I will just never understand what is funny about him. I had no idea Tim Burton directed this piece of junk. I did make it to the end, but I still don't get it.

(Movie quote) - "I Know You Are, But What Am I?"

This may have been a tale about Pee Wee's "big" adventure, but everything about it said "small" to me. It's like the saying goes - "Small things amuse small minds" - And, yes, indeed, so does this movie.

It sure seemed to me like everything in this garishly loud, flippantly gay movie was being shown to me as if I were still in kindergarten.

Wearing mascara, face powder, and even lipstick, Paul Ruebens' Pee Wee Herman character (with his slight frame and decidedly effeminate mannerisms) came across to me like some sort of frustrated transvestite who would've obviously been much more comfortable wearing 6" stilletos and a frilly dress.

The small-minded mentality and eccentric humor that prevailed throughout Pee Wee's Big Adventure was strictly hit-n-miss stuff which only worked to its advantage about half the time.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom Ruebens' Pee Wee character being as popular as he apparently was back in the 1980s. At best, I found his often-bitchy shenanigans to be only marginally amusing for the most part.

As well, I find it hard to believe that this film of flighty nuttiness was actually directed by Mr. Gloom & Doom, himself, Tim Burton.

"I know you are, but what am I?" (in one scene this line is repeated over and over again, ad nauseum)
