A lovely book. I absolutely love kids' books that are great for anyone. Edward is a superb character, and his adventures are fascinating and heart wrenching. Highly recommend to anyone with a heart. :)

This is an emotional and thought-provoking book for children, but it is also an entertaining adventure story. Edward Tulane is a china rabbit who belongs to a young girl. He is inadvertently tossed overboard while on an ocean voyage. This is the first of many adventures Edward experiences as he begins a journey that may eventually take him back to where he wants to be. During his adventures, Edward meets many different people and finds himself in many situations. Edward starts off as a cold, unemotional character who is attached to no one, but he changes over his journey and learns to care for others. This is a simple yet captivating story that is beautifully written by a highly acclaimed writer. It is also beautifully illustrated. While the book deals with issues like grief and loss, it is also quite heartwarming and enjoyable overall.

Walking past the children’s section, this title drew me in, with the adorable illustration of the brave bunny walking the long steps toward a lit doorway. The imaginative story of the cranky bunny with a ceramic head and rabbit-fur ears captivated me further. What a dramatic journey as Edward suffers cruelty and hardship, but also enjoys amazing love … and finds that even a ceramic bunny can grow a heart of gold.

I think you should read this book because of the amazing things that not only happen to Edward, but to his many families. I also think you should read this book because of the lesson that is learned and the different emotions that Edward goes through. If you are ever looking for a book, read this one!

Wow. I am lost of words to describe this touching story. I first read this back in grade three when my teacher recommended it to me, and I am so thankful that happened. I think it would be great to start it off telling you that not only have I re-read this book over 6 times, but I have encouraged so many classmates, and just overall people to read this book. It is extremely heartbreaking in some chapters but Edward, (a china rabbit) is very courageous and pushes through. I recommend this book 10/10!
Age group: 9/10/11 + years and up because of melancholy and harsh moments.

“On his one hundred and eightieth day at the dump, salvation arrived for Edward in a most unusual form. The garbage around him shifted, and the rabbit heard the sniffing and panting of a dog. Then came the frenzied sound of digging. The garbage shifted again, and suddenly, miraculously, the beautiful, buttery light of late afternoon shone on Edward’s face.” (p. 86)

This book was about a china rabbit who does not know how to love. When the girl who loves him goes on a cruise, all goes overboard as well as Edward. He goes on several journeys and meets several new people that help him love. With an amazing ending, this is one book you must read to take your heart on a lovely soar of how an inanimate object can learn to love.
