An overall fascinating and compelling history of medicine with some illustrations including historical artwork and photography of artifacts. I especially enjoyed that most continents are included in this history, as many books in this genre claiming to be a history of medicine are actually a history of only British/US medical practices. At times a bit dry and scholastic and I would have preferred even more illustrations and photography. For an easier read on the same subject I would also suggest: Strange Medicine: A Shocking History of Real Medical Practices through the Ages by Nathan Belofsky.
