Nineteenth century poet Letitia Landon mysteriously commits suicide just eight weeks after a quiet marriage to a governor and re-location from London to Cape Coast in West Africa. This story, spoken from Letitia's post-humous point of view, will reveal the world through her eyes as well as the mystery behind her death, which may not have been suicide after all.

Based on real events. Still a mystery.

This is a quietly-told story of powerful emotions. The author shows her masterful grasp of character here, representing each of her characters clearly and briefly in a very contained narrative.
I'd particularly recommend this new novel to anyone who enjoyed the works of M.M. Kaye (Shadow of the Moon, The Far Pavilions) or Jane Austen -- or the fantasy novel Black Wine by Candas Jane Dorsey.
