This book was overall very good. The theme was very good, and the characters were well built. You yourself could feel connected to those people in the town. There was a little humor in the story, and the happy ending makes you feel warm inside. I wish this book could've had more action or more drama, but it is a great book.

Because of Winn-Dixie is a sweet, heart felt novel. Mrs. DeCamillo writes about a girl-dog bond, and this Newberry Honor Book reads quickly, but no tween should miss the story inside this book that features a girl full of sorrow, seeking friendship, and a loyal canine companion.

Nice coming of age story in a time when kids had to grow up quickly. Each chapter adds another thing or person to deal with and this book ends in a very heart warming way. This book proves that having a dog can help a person with life.

I'm still reading the book, but, I watched the movie and loved it! <3 Great for kids ages 6 and up or so. It's a Disney movie so little kids under 6 could watch the movie. (I wouldn't try reading it though they might not sit still XD) Great book/movie none the less. ^.^ I recommend it to anyone who is a dog or animal lover or just a kid looking for a thrilling book. It's a little scary sometimes, but, I'm glad that Opal, the main character, gets friends because of Winn-Dixie. (And I don't think they should call Winn-Dixie ugly because he's really cute <3)

I liked the part when Winn Dixie the dog smiled at a girl at the store named Winn Dixie. Jennifer, age 8.
