Silly songs, creative. My kid is pretty young so the subject matter mostly being about behaviors we would rather avoid (funny & silly for an older kid) was somewhat confusing for him since he is very suggestable right now. Other songs were a hit like the one about loose shoe laces.
*another point we discovered, he got sad when we sang the smelly brother song, probably because he is potty training and easily upset if he thinks others think he stinks*

When I saw this book was advertized for children ages 2-8 I was floored. I cannot imagine a 2 year old understanding the quirky humor of this book or enjoying the songs. With that said, I had this book in my 5th grade classroom for years. This age child (8-12) understands the humor and has great fun with it even if they don't know the songs that the poems are a parody of.

What child at this age can resist "Stinky Stinky diaper change, Boy my brother smells so strange, He made something in his pants, sure hope it won't attract ants!"

If reading it just as poems, the rhythm will seem off because they are meant to accompany tunes. The above poem is part of a parody of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." And I wouldn't recommend buying the CD made for this book because no older child wants to listen to music that goes so slow and the quality is sad. A little rock and roll in the background would not go amiss.

This book is great silly humorous fun for the older children. If you are thinking of buying it for the little ones, I would give it a pass.
