This book is gorgeous and the story is much better than Little Red Riding Hood! Ironically, I am reading (well, listening to on a Playaway) the book "The Girl Who Saved The King of Sweden"- which is excellent, by the way- and I think the three sisters in both books are one in the same! LOL. Very clever girls!!!

A good comparison from the traditional European Little Red Riding Hood. I thought it was going to be rather dark, but it wasn't so much. The pictures are a little vague, more dark than the cartoons we are used to -not for children under 5.

from the grimm brothers' "little red riding hood," ed young presents china's own spin on the classic tale in which three sisters strive to outwit the big bad wolf. both narrative & art work hand-in-hand to create a richly intense atmosphere---& while the artwork alone makes checking out lon po po worth it, I second that the illustrations may frighten young(er) readers.

Wonderful art work. Interesting to see another culture take on "Red Riding Hood" type of tale. Tale is geared for age 4 and older

In a refreshing departure from the Red Riding Hood template, three sisters rise to the challenge when they find themselves sharing a bed with a hungry wolf. The spooky, evocative illustrations may be too intense for the youngest readers.
