I hope that if her future books are printed in North America they leave the text alone. It irritates me no end when a South London copper uses north American English and everything is "translated" into N. American. Surely the avaerge N. American reader's intelligent enough to understand what's meant by the "boot" of a car and that "tyres" are the rubber bits on the wheels.
Sadly the N. American publishers seem to think that only N. American English can be understood in this country and that, probably, we in London should speak and spell in bad American.
All right, rant over. I'm sure all Canadian readers agree with me though.
Not for the squeamish. Great thriller, however, I hope Rebecca doesn't make any more appearances in the next three Jack Caffery books. I found her boring in Birdman, intolerable in The Treatment and am sick of her. Moving on to Ritual!
Perhaps a very good book. But, I found the plot slow-moving and it couldn't hold my interest.
I first read Pig Island, by Mo Haydor and quite enjoyed it, although there were some grisly scenes in it !
I enjoy thrillers and I also enjoyed this one, although I don't think its for everyone as it does involve pedophiles and is quite discriptive and may turn some people off.
I had my 'suspect' around a third of the way through and was wrong !!!
I will read more of her books
