Cress sits in her isolated tower, floating in a spacepod, an observer to the whole world. Her ability to act is far from confined though, thanks to an expertise in computers that opens up new possibilities for her and for Cinder. As the latest fairytale to become incorporated, Cress' story receiv... Read More »

Another great installment from the Lunar Chronicles! A new character, Cress (short for Crescent Moon) is introduced. Like all the other characters, Cress is loosely based upon fairy tale character--she is Rapunzel--at the outset of the book she is trapped in a satellite and has the long, long h... Read More »

Stayed up late to finish this one and I would consider it well worth it. Just when you think the dream team has been assembled - and they're off to grab a new member in Cress (our Rapunzel figure) when disaster strikes and everyone ends up separated from each other. Mostly in pairs with the excep... Read More »

This novel shows that even the timidest can be heroes, and never doubt your abilities.

Characters: 10/10
Plot: 10/10
Writing: 10/10
This new addition to the Lunar Chronicles introduces my OTP, so I’m unfairly biased towards it. It builds both individual character plotlines and the overall plotline in a good balance.

I loved this book and I definitely think that it was better than scarlet. I captured my attention immediately and kept it throughout the whole book. This series amazes me every time I read one of the book because of just how clever it is. The way that it perfectly intertwines fantasy and syfy is amazing and I love how there are little parallels between the stories and the tales they are based on all over the books. I think its just amazing. I cannot wait to read the next book!

This is my favorite book of all time. The romance is exciting and the adventure is captivating. I couldn't put this book down once I had started reading it. It's a MUST READ!!!!!

What I love about this series is the way Meyer strikes the perfect balance between retelling a fairy tale in a such a way that enough of the recognizable beats from the original story are present, without making the book predictable. I think she made a really smart choice with this one to retell the story of Rapunzel by focusing on the less-well-known portion of the original fairy tale (when Rapunzel and her blinded prince are wandering through the desert after getting caught together by the witch) as the main action of this story. I super, super loved Cress and Thorn, and could read about them all day. Meyer also continued to nicely weave in the storylines of the characters from the previous books -- Scarlet and Wolf weren't as prominent in this one, but Cinder and Kai's story has some really satisfying developments. I have found each book in this series more satisfying than the one preceding it -- fingers crossed that this trend continues.

This series is going downhill.

Not a fan of the relationship established in this one. Or the story. Or anything.

This was a really cute addition to the series. Though, it wasn't my favorite thus far (that honor goes to Scarlet). I did like Cress. Her story was both sad and fun. I loved being able to experience new things with her as she left her satellite and discovers the world. I did feel that she was a bit naive, even considering her circumstances, and that annoyed me a bit on occasion throughout the book. But overall she was adorable.

I really liked the growth for Thorne here. He experienced hardship but was able to maintain his cocky, arrogant demeanor which is so fun to read. I liked that he was brutally honest about his failings and tried to keep Cress from putting him on a pedestal. Though I must say, I agree with Cress that Thorne is not nearly as bad as he thinks. I am looking forward to the development in their story in the next installment.

Wolf and Scarlet broke my heart here. I am seriously hoping for a happy ending for them.

I did like the plot movement in this installment. I think the developments were well paced and allowed the story to move forward as a whole while still focusing in on the individual characters of Thorne and Cress. I love that, even in the midst of all this, Meyer was still able to provide some growth for the other characters who weren't the focus here.

Definitely looking forward to Winter!

Team Thorn all the way, but my favorite couple is Scarlet&Wolf.
