Josh Sundquist was an energetic and inquisitive nine-year-old when he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a virulent cancer that eventually claimed his left leg. His extraordinary journey takes him from his small southern town--with his father, an aspiring pastor questioning his faith, and his mother, a rigidly conservative homeschool teacher--through a dizzying array of hospitals, on to high school, and then to the mountains, where Josh learns to ski. On the slopes, Josh's world bursts wide open and he finds within him the drive to become a champion skier, despite his disability. While he navigates the dramas of high school and an unstable home life, Josh keeps his eyes on the prize--the 2006 Paralympics in Turin, Italy. Just Don't Fall isn't just the story of a boy becoming a man, but of a champion realizing his greatest aspiration.--Publisher description.

This is an amazing story. Discovering him through his YouTube videos, I knew a little bit about him but not nearly as much as I learned by reading this. I highly recommend it, as well as We Should Hang Out Sometime (coming out in April 2015). His storytelling follows the ages that he is in the different stages of his life. In the beginning it seems like Josh is nine again while at the end you can really tell that it is himself speaking as he is now. Please read this book, you will not regret it.

This is a fabulous book. It's inspiring and so on, no doubt about that, but it's also incredibly well written, and quite funny. Also, although the author comes from a deeply religious background, he managed to tell his story without making me uncomfortable. (Compare, for example, Life Without Limits, which I couldn't stand and quickly abandoned.)

I think one reason the book works so well is the author's honesty. Another reason is that he's just a great storyteller.

Highly recommended.

I loved this story! Josh writes honestly and throws in lots of humour. I discovered him through youtube. He has portions of this very book on his channel, narrated by him, accompanied with hilarious stick people drawings. They are wonderfully done, I recommend watching! It's a clever way to promote his book.
