Directed by Ryan McGarry in 2013, this 81-minute documentary depicts a vivid and provocative portrait of the American healthcare system and "C-Booth", in particular, which is Los Angeles County's legendary birthplace of Emergency Medicine.
It offers a tense and unforgettable doctor's-eye view into the heart of the healthcare crisis.

The shrapnel tear the flesh like butter and the overwhelming color of red pour unto the screen. Dying body on the stretch bed reminisce of how people in your life could end up as you watched the doctors pressed their lifeless body and surrounded with people that looked at so many faces that soon be deceased.

very interesting contrast between the chaotic old ER and the form-ridden new ER. this is pre-Obama care, so it's hard to know how that may have contributed to change in the care of those who had no where else to go but the County Hospital.

Average documentary that I did not really learn anything new from. 2-3 stars

My comment disappeared??? A look at the storied C-Booth of the old LA County Hospital building and followed a team of young ER residents who tried to improve on the "Code Black" Healthcare system when ACA was being debated and implemented.

Danny Cheng: As an Asian immigrant, my choices in life were doctor, lawyer, or world-class pianist. Dad subscribed to “Where there’s a will there’s an ‘A.'” Otherwise, it was spanking time.

Jamie Eng: To heal someone and make them feel better ... it's no matter if they're rich or poor.

McGarry: Imagine you’re getting ready to start your shift, You pass the waiting room, and it’s overflowing…and you know you’re not going to be able to fix that in a (single) shift. It’s defeating.

Dave Pomeranz: We’re totally immersed in protocols, policy, rules, checklists and forms...
