A New York Times bestseller!

Cofounder of the international beauty company Caudalíe shares the simple, natural, time-tested beauty secrets she learned growing up in France that any woman can use to look younger, healthier, and more radiant without harsh products or drastic procedures.

When Mathilde Thomas moved from her native France to the United States to expand her skin-care company, Caudalíe, she wanted to find out what American women wanted from their beauty routines. She interviewed thousands of women and was struck by how different the French and American approaches to beauty were. American women are all about the quick fix--the elusive product or procedure that will instantly solve a nagging beauty problem, even if it hurts, is wildly expensive, or is damaging in the long term. The French, by contrast, approach beauty as an essential and pleasurable part of the day, a lifelong and active investment that makes you look and feel good.

Mathilde used these insights to turn Caudalíe into one of America's top beauty brands. Drawing on her company's twenty years of scientific skin-care expertise backed by the research of doctors and dermatologists--as well as the beauty secrets she learned growing up on a vineyard in Bordeaux-- The French Beauty Solution covers everything from how to use natural ingredients such as oil and honey to wash your face; what foods to eat for healthier hair, skin, and nails; and the amazing properties of grapes and grapeseed oil. She also introduces an easy three-day grape cleanse that European aristocrats have been using to detox for hundreds of years. Blending stories, science, DIY recipes, and tons of savoir faire, The French Beauty Solution is the last beauty regimen you'll ever need.

I enjoyed reading about the author's grandmother who concocted many homemade products (masks mostly) from her garden. Some of the recipes are included in the book. The author's family is responsible for the Caudelie line of skin care products. I was especially interested in the resveritrol (found in grapes/wines) connection to good skin.
I wouldn't say there are many "secrets" as the title suggests. Just common sense when it comes to skin care and lifestyle.

The cover should display a sponsored content disclaimer. Nothing is wrong with promoting your product line, but as a reader I don’t like to be tricked into that.

Great book about looking and feeling beautiful! My main take aways were more facials (in salons and at home), exfoliate but less often, gentle products (if it burns or stings don't use it), wear less makeup, and remove make up before going to bed for the night. I have already started trying some of the simple DIY suggested ideas!

I was not impressed with this book. It seemed like a big advertisement for her cosmetic line. With respect to French beauty secrets, it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know or could find on the internet. I think, in an attempt to be politically correct, she pussy footed around the French's attitude toward American beauty standards. This was just wishy washy and dull.

An excellent read for a new approach to natural beauty. French women approach their beauty regimes as something wonderful, luscious, and joyful and they use natural products that are good enough to eat sometimes! They don't do it because they feel like they have to or should, they do it because they enjoy it and relish the experience - something we could all learn from the French!
