This was alright; I have friends madly in love with Mitford, and since it is near Christmas thought I would try this. I thought the character's interesting, but I didn't love them, and I found their speech somewhat irritating. I think it was supposed to be endearing, but the story wasn't long enough for me to get used to it.

Good story , takes about 15 minutes to read tops , but worth the reading. Quite enjoyed it .

What a delightful story this was! Esther’s Gift is a lesson to us all. It is not the cost of making and giving things, such as an orange marmalade cake, which matters. What really counts is the joy and warmth your gift brings to the heart.

Overall, I love Jan Karon's novels. But this one was like a short story more than a novel. I read the whole book in literally 11 minutes. I wish it was more meaty.
