Clearly the best Led Zeppelin album ... because it is a double-album. It's like, what's better, one scoop of delicious chocolate ice cream, or two scoops? Yes, two scoops is better, of course; so Physical Graffiti is the best Led Zep album because it is the musical equivalent of two scoops of delicious chocolate ice cream. With awesome guitar riffs - two scoops of delicious chocolate ice cream, with awesome, iconic guitar riffs.

This album is one of their best, or it is their second best. DOWN BY THE SEASIDE is the cut i like best. It evokes the most emotion in me, out of the set. Some of these songs seem to feature flurries of notes from Jimmy Page. That's what stands out, about them. KASHMIR likely would win a listener's poll, as the outstanding track on the album. What makes it the '40th anniversary deluxe set?' different takes are used, than on the original album. will you be able to hear that difference? possibly, after many listenings, some of you, not at all.

Well, darlings - If you like these dudes, then you're bound to love Physical Graffiti. This is clearly Led Zeppelin at their absolute peak.

Physical Graffiti is the sixth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released as a double album on 24 February 1975.

The band wrote and recorded 8 new songs for the album at Headley Grange. These 8 songs stretched the total time of the record beyond the typical length of a single LP, so the band decided to make Physical Graffiti a double album by including unreleased tracks from earlier recording sessions: one outtake from Led Zeppelin III, 3 from Led Zeppelin IV, and 3 from Houses of the Holy, including the unused title track.

Physical Graffiti was commercially and critically successful; the album went 16x platinum in the US in 2006, signifying shipments of 8 million copies, and was a number one album in both the US and UK.

In the Zep canon, "II" was the hard rock hit machine, "III" was the acoustic retreat to the countryside, and "IV," well "IV" was the monolith. Yet 1975's double album "Physical Graffiti" might just be the most of any Zeppelin album, from its length to its iconic cover to its encompassing of everything that makes Zeppelin Zeppelin. The album is a masterpiece or a classic or whatever else you want to call it. This 3-disc 40th anniversary reissue adds very little to that. The original album is on 2 discs and a third disc has alternate takes/earlier versions that is mildly interesting, but hardly essential. The booklet has some pictures, but no liner notes, which is a little frustrating. If you already have this album, I'm not sure why you'd need to buy the reissue.

the heaviest / greatest band of all time

This album is full of memorable guitar riffs, breath taking rhythms, psychedelic blues, groovy shuffles and hints of British folk.
Commercially and critically successful “Physical Graffiti” is a significant turning point in the evolution of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal.

Often imitated, but never surpassed, Led Zeppelin proved with 1975's Physical Graffiti that, when it came to innovative, hard-driving, and top-of-the-line "Heavy Metal", they were, without question, the undisputed reigning kings of the genre.

It's surprising to hear how well some of these tunes actually hold up today, 40 years down the road.
