This is a really neat book! It goes over not only rocks and minerals, but also fossils, shells, ice, metals, jewelry- I mean anything you can think of in that realm. It's really fascinating! My 8 year old son is really into collecting raw gemstones and polishing them, and when I saw this I thought he'd really like it, and sure enough he's fascinated by it. But, I love it as well! It's neat to read facts about all the different types of gemstones and rocks and such. This is neat for reference but also just to look over to learn more. It goes into dinosaur bones and fossils from millions of years ago and so much more!
