From the animated film comes a written adaptation of Justice League: Gods and Monsters. In this alternate universe, the Justice League isn't a team of the world's greatest superheroes who protect the Earth from evil and save it from disaster. No, this Justice League is a trio of ruthless "heroes" who answer to no one and stop at nothing to destroy their enemies. The names are the same but the people they are attached to are not: Superman is the son of Zod, Batman is an inhuman vampire and Wonder Woman is a tragic former resident of New Genesis. These are the world's best and only hope.

Collects tie-in comics produced to promote a direct-to-video animated film. In the story, three obscure DC Comics characters become the all-powerful antiheroes of an alternate Earth. The grim subject matter is undercut by the cartoony art. Not especially compelling or interesting.

Meant as a prelude to the animated film, this collection of stories tells how an alternate reality version of the League came to be. The Trinity is more ruthless than their more familiar counterparts, and the writing throughout works well in conveying that.
