For everyone who has ever been bullied

Alice has started at her new school. She has made some new friends and she is supposed to be getting the kitten of her dreams. Who cares that her house doesn‘t have a stove and her brother is insisting on wearing his Hallowe‘en costume to school every day? OK, well maybe that matters when the meanest girl in your class makes fun of you for it.

Nice second instalment of the series. Allie is a believable character, and author Cabot has surrounded her with an admirable cast of extras. Of particular note for parents is the visit of Alice‘s Grandma and the undercurrent of tension that brings.

Allie Finkle is the new girl at Pine Heights Elementary, and she's very excited. She already knows she likes her new fourth grade teacher Mrs. Hunter, and she's already friends with classmates Erica, Caroline, and Sophie. There is only one fly in the ointment of ALLIE's perfect new life: one of the girls in Allie's new class, Rosemary, doesn't like her. In fact, Rosemary says she's going to beat Allie up after school.

Everybody around Allie tells her their rules for dealing with bullies. But which are the right ones to follow?"
