Enjoyed this very much, but found the fast wrap up somewhat confusing.

Excellent series, suspenseful to the end. The subtitles are very helpful for those of us not used to northern accents. Just 1 thing did not add up for me, but cannot tell without spoiling ...

Six episodes, one story. And they are fitted together in seamless fashion. This story is based on the stories carefully crafted by Ann Cleeves, an accomplished writer of fiction. A strong lead character, an inspector by the unlikely and decidedly non Celtic name of Jimmy Perez is played by Douglas Henshall. Detective inspector is a real person. Pensive. Slow to boil. He breathes, he doesn't always get everything right; he cares very much about the well-being of those who work with him. He is ably supported by Alison O'Donnell as Detective Constable/Detective Sergeant Alison 'Tosh' MacIntosh, a competent, strong but eventually a very broken member of his staff.
Unexpectedly, a very important component of this program is the stage upon which this story unfolds: Shetland itself. Rugged treeless vistas and the omnipresent shorelines, the cliffs, the birds and the ocean. Bleak. But also very enticing.
The plot is it typical Cleeves: unpredictable. There are as many twists and turns to this plot as there are wiggles to a worm on a fishing hook. Great story; great TV watching.
