This is the first book I’ve ever read from this author and I have to say I really liked this book and I will definitely read more books from Elizabeth Camden.
I really liked the dynamic and relationship between Kate and Trevor, how they went from rivals to colleagues, to friends, to something more intimate.
I really enjoyed the slight mystery in the storyline and even though I’m usually good at guessing who’s the bad guy this time I was surprised.
Another thing that completely surprised me and really caught me off guard was finding out the big secrets that Trevor was hiding. I think that completely changed the course that I thought the book was going in and I really liked and enjoyed that.
I really loved reading about how Kate finally learns to trust in God and learn that no matter how much she can try to control everything around her life, including the people closest to her, she will never be able to change what is God’s will.
We can be afraid and worry and stress about the future all we want but we won’t be truly happy and at peace until we fully surrender to God’s will and learn to fully trust Him.
This was a great book full of emotions & a little suspense. You never knew what the characters were doing to do next. One minutes it seems like things are going along smoothly than the next time everything is turned around. Shows just how important life is to those who are fighting an illness and for the ones that are the caregivers.
Overall a good read. The plot involving the evolution of the relationship between the two leads was well executed. Romantic, but not cheesy. Combined with the mystery aspect, it's a book that you just have to finish.
I'm not happy that I had to give this book a low rating.
I think it's partly because I was reading an ebook and I know Camden's audiobooks are so much more enjoyable and also because everything was repeated a million times in this book. If I'm not feeling it the first time, I ain't gonna be feeling it the twelfth.
Also, the mystery plot took way too long to uncover and it was almost a surprise that it did because I honestly had forgotten about it.
Boring and uneventful. Also, that cover is rather amateur looking.
This is one of Elizabeth Camden's better novels. Relationship between leads built up strongly, good repartee, and although the ending seemed to resolve a big issue pretty quickly it didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the book.
Wasn't awful, but wasn't my favorite either. It was a good mix of mystery and romance, and should please audiences who enjoy tame offerings from both fields. I struggled to appreciate the animosity between the romantic leads.
