Fine old time drawing, dialogue and storytelling.
A moving, affectionate look at a pioneering first family of popular music, done in a perfectly chosen period style that recalls Frank King's Gasoline Alley. Extremely short chapters keep the action moving, and careful selection of anecdote, theme and tone allows the Carter Family's "simple" but deep love of home and hearth to shine through. The creators are clearly bursting with eagerness to pack in as much story as possible -- up to and including the endpapers. A real winner, a classic.
David Lasky is also an author of this book (ahem). ;)
