Before JK Rowling caught the fancy of an entire generation with her tales of boy wizards fighting dark lords, there were stalwarts like Diana Wynne Jones quietly churning book after book full of magic and mayhem. A must read if you like the fantasy genre.

Loved this book and all the others. A must read no matter the age (my 16 year old sister loves this book).

Absolutely wonderful and original. The story is quick and fun, with perfect character flaws and insights. Great!

Because of her exceptional magic skills, Gwendolen is used to being the center of attention. But when she and her brother Cat are sent to live with Chrestomanci, a powerful and mysterious enchanter, Gwendolen is treated like just another student! When Gwendolen decides to use her magic to show everyone just how important she really is, Cat must find a way to set things right, before it's too late.

My only complaint about this book is that it is too short.

A bewitching book that kids who liked Harry Potter should try!
