"In the new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Scottoline, Mary DiNunzio's ruthless nemesis Nick Machiavelli is back...with a vengeance. When three men announce that they are suing the Rosato & DiNunzio law firm for reverse sex discrimination--claiming that they were not hired because they were men--Mary DiNunzio and Bennie Rosato are outraged. To make matters worse, their one male employee, John Foxman, intends to resign, claiming that there is some truth to this case. The plaintiffs' lawyer is Nick Machiavelli, who has already lost to Mary once and is now back with a vengeance --determined not to not only win, but destroy the firm. It soon becomes clear that Machiavelli will do anything in his power to achieve his end...even after the case turns deadly. The stakes have never been higher for Mary and her associates as they try to keep Machiavelli at bay, solve a murder, and save the law firm they love...or they could lose everything they've worked for. Told with Scottoline's trademark gift for twists, turns, heart, and humanity, this latest thriller asks the question: Is it better to be loved, or feared... Feared, the sixth entry in the acclaimed Rosato & DiNunzio series, expertly explores what happens when we are tempted to give in to our own inner darkness."-- Provided by publisher.

I enjoyed this book with a number of twists and turns. Some of it was a little unbelievable but it is fiction so have fun reading it.

'Feared' is another episode in a great series by Lisa Scottoline. I am a huge fan of both her fiction and non-fiction.
I was a bit disappointed in 'Feared' in that the main characters just don't sound or act like themselves. Mary seems to become more inane as her pregnancy goes along, her Italian family becomes more caricature than Italian (unless Philly Italians are really that much different than Cleveland Italians!) and I don't know what is up with Bennie, but none of them clearly aren't themselves.

The story itself is riveting with twists and turns you won't expect.

I enjoyed everything about this book except the ultimate reveal. The perpetrator has a 180 degree change of personality for the slimmest of reasons. I shook my head and couldn't embrace the impossibility of it.

The characters are interesting and fun. The friendships are believable and true. And Nary's South Philly Italian family reminded me of the large Italian family who lived next door when I was a youngster.....in a very good way.

And Hooray for Flavia Machiavelli!

Ms. Scottoline does not disappoint! There are so many plot twists that you have no idea who the antagonist is until the very end, and as usual, it's a surprise.

Bennie Rosato and Mary DiNunzio are once again facing their nemesis Nicky Machiavelli who believes that it is better to be feared than loved. He files a reverse discrimination suit against the firm alleging they only hire women. While the pair try to fight this suit the stakes are heightened when their one and only male associate says he wants to quit. Things go from bad to worse but as is always the case with all the twists and turns in a Rosato DiNunzio novel all's well that ends well.

Great addition to the series and sure to be enjoyed by insiders. All of the usual elements are here: Mary's South Philly family and culture, the power of girlfriends, good, solid lawyering, fun investigation and an action-packed ending. This book had just a tiny deeper element of Mary's ambivalence toward her pregnancy that I think rang true.--especially with first time parents. I also like that Mary and Anthony have selected to go forward with a less common division of family labor. I hope it works out. As for Mary's enemy, Machiavelli, we don't know what the future holds for him and his relationship with Mary but we know one thing for sure: never underestimate the power of the MOTHER.

Bennie, Mary and Judy are back and battling a legal attack on their law firm. An enjoyable read with a doozy of an ending. If you haven't read Lisa Scottoline before, you might want to start at the beginning of the Rosato & Associates series to get the back story on the legal trio of women lawyers.

FEARED is a really interesting story and the usual good fare from Scottoline. Deals with threats to the firm, murder, and the issue of reverse discrimination, legal malpractice, and impending motherhood. Only one thing bothered me about the story. When the firm's existence was threatened right at the outset of the book, the partners made a number very obvious tactical mistakes in how they responded to that complicated things for them, such as quickly holding a press conference where they got blindsided. I get that the threat was very real and from a total scumbag enemy of Mary's. And I get that they felt they needed to "fight back." What I didn't get was why they choose to take some of the actions they did. It seems out of character for a group of well-grounded lawyers who are usually very strategic and well-prepared when they act. The good news is that about half way through the book, they reverted to normal behavior and eliminated the threat. Good read. Enjoy
