"Fixie Farr has always lived by her father's motto: "Family first." But ever since her dad passed away, leaving his charming kitchen supply store in the hands of his children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn't take care of her father's legacy, who will? It's simply not in Fixie's nature to tell people "no." So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, Fixie not only agrees--she ends up saving it from certain disaster. Turns out the computer's owner is an investment manager named Sebastian. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, he scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. But Fixie laughs it off--she'd never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she? Then Fixie's childhood crush Ryan comes back into her life and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixie's buttons. She wants nothing for herself, but for Seb to give Ryan a job. And Seb agrees, until the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOU's between Seb and Fixie--from small favors to life-changing moments--ensue. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand for herself? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?"-- Provided by publisher.

Typical Sophie Kinsella. Great mindless read.

I really enjoyed this book! The book is based around the story of a girl names Fixie Farr who takes care of her family first over herself. She spends her time helping her siblings and working at her fathers houseware store. One morning she heads to a coffee shop where a man asks her to watch his laptop. One thing leads to another and he ends up thanking her and offering an IOU and his business card. This simple morning leads to many eventful days in the book. I really liked the love/romance in this book, it’s more mature, and less like teen books. Definitely recommend this book to anybody who likes adult romance. @momo of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Typical Sophie Kinsella. Great mindless read.

The heroine here was a real doormat for her family that walked all over her, and you just really wanted to slap the lot of them. But everything gets wrapped up in a nice little package so don't fret. If you need something cozy set in London, then pick this one up!

435 pages. I was fully prepared to give this two stars but it took every bit of energy to get through the last 30 pages. Down to one star. Besides Seb, every character in this book is so hard to be around. Mostly awful. I just found my mood was going downhill while reading this (and yet I kept going thinking it's going to get better!! But that didn't happen until the last 10 pages).

It's always hit or miss for me and Kinsella's books...even though everyone loved the Shopaholic books, I also couldn't handle Becky. But Kinsella has other books I just adored....but I'm sad to say this was too hard. There were just no likeable characters.

At one point, Sophie Kinsella was my go-to author for women's fiction but for some reason it's been years since I've read one of her books. I'm glad to see that the spark is still there and I will definitely be putting in some time to catch up now that I know. I truly enjoyed I Owe You One, though I must admit, at times I was supremely annoyed with the heroine, her brother, her sister, her uncle, and her crush - simultaneously. But as the story progressed, and Fixie became less passive and starting speaking up for herself, my enjoyment of the book increased exponentially. I also really liked Seb and the way that they both helped each other to grow as individuals. I do wish more time was spent with them as a couple; they went from acquaintances to lovers rather quickly. I also felt some type of way about Seb's actions when they had their falling out. Other than that, I honestly couldn't put the book down and I'm now adding Sophie Kinsella back to my "must read" author list.

I love Sophie Kinsella books, I have read many. This one is good, but it's not one of my favourites. It has the typical humor and smooth writing, that I love about Kinsella books, but I found the story dragged on at certain parts. Overall, a quick and easy read.

This was a sweet, fun, easy read. I spent a lot of the book frustrated with the main character, however the ending of the book redeemed itself for me.

I really enjoyed reading this book because it was an easy, fun, and romantic read! I grew attached to Seb and I thought Fixie was too annoying and sort of unrealistic.

A page turner. Finished in 3 nights. It did take a while for the MC to stand up for herself when every person in her life was behaving foolishly - thereby bringing potential ruin into her personal/professional life. I felt like the ending wrapped up a little too quickly. Everything was tied up with a bow, but there were some plot holes. I. E. How did a certain character's behavior seem to make a 180 overnight? How were things resolved with "Whiny?" Etc. Overall - good, but not great.
