2019. Family movie. A live action drama paralleling the animated earlier Aladdin movie. Will Smith was great as Genie. I thought Disney did a great re-make. Very enjoyable. Kids will like it too. Good music, colorful dancing. typical Disney.
Well, I am a Senior Citizen, and I liked this one better than the one I saw as a kid. Very colorful, lots of funny, lots of cute from the monkey, special effects were realllly great, songs were dandy, acting was superb as well as the dancing throughout and at the end, good guy got the girl..and the best part--the bad guy got his just desserts! Sorry it got such a bad rap. I was NOT disappointed with any of it.
Worthy of a family film status, so grab it and watch it!!!
Lots of singing and dancing. It's quite entertaining, i understand why children love it so much!
An enjoyable, if imperfect adaptation. If you're a fan of the animated movie (all of us, I guess) than it'll definitely put the songs in your head. Jasmine's new song was passable, and her improved role was great! I think it should have taken a cue from the Broadway show and dropped Abu for Aladdin's three silly friends but alas.
What stands out: Exciting dance numbers, Jasmine and her BFF, costume and set design. The Prince Ali bit. Revising the climax and ending.
What needed work: Aladdin- the actor lacks the charisma for the role and has to constantly be saved. Contributes little to his own story. Jafar- The actor again had nothing and didn't even sing.
It's worth watching and probably the best of the Disney live-action remakes so far.
1 copy for the DVD seriously?
This was a fun movie, and I don't understand why it got such bad reviews. Totally enjoyable from beginning to end. Will Smith even makes a good Genie - he really owned that role!
This movie got a bad rap, and I don't know why - it was a lot of fun! I think perhaps it was because people were upset about Will Smith playing the genie. Yes, there is no one better than Robin Williams for the Genie, but Will made it his own. He didn't try to be RW, and I appreciate that. The singing isn't the best in the world, but it was passable.
Will Smith the smurf who grants false promises.
Pretty good remake of Aladdin. I really liked the Genie's story-line and the modernization of Jasmine's story. I liked that Jafar was just a creepy bad guy, not a lascivious creepy bad guy. I loved the Bollywood dance! I felt like the ending was a bit lack luster compared to the original and I think they could have had more action sequences, parkour and have the animated Genie move around a bit more. But overall it was fun to watch.
