This book has become a tradition in our family. We even read it outside of Christmas. Berke Breathed's illustrations are wonderful and whimsical, bringing new character and detail to his comic strip characters. In "A Wish for Wings that Work," we find Opus the penguin longing to fly - although he was not created to do so - and writing Santa to make his wish come true.

It is a wonderful story of square pegs, round holes, and wishing to be something other than what you are. Throw in Santa and you've got a great Christmas story that should become a tradition in your household like it has in ours.
