Little seems to have changed in Naipal's India since the first book of his trilogy, except that the need to hustle for a job, even with a college degree, is as grim as ever, but all-out violence between the antagonistic sects of the Sik religion has reached near civil war levels. He notices less abject destitution, and interviews the dedicated publisher of a modest magazine dedicated to traditional secluded housewifes. Personnally, my bet rides on the publisher.
V.S. Naipal is as impartial as a scientist, and the observation of a poet. I love reading him.
