Fleabag is a hilarious and poignant window into the mind of a dry-witted, sexual, angry, grief-riddled woman, as she hurls herself at modern living in London.

Didn’t like what I saw at all.

I agree with the comment that we need CC or we may miss all the witticisms in these episodes. I was not quite sure what to expect...it was comedic but then took some very dark turns. Just like life! I am eagerly awaiting Season 2.

DVD needs closed captions for my old ears.

Fleabag talks to the camera frequently, letting audience in her self-awareness to those flummoxed actions on screen. Coming from an unorthodox single white-woman who engaged with cringey sex partners. her monologues are often outside the box, caught me off guard, and humorous. On the other hand, behind sunny dispositions, she is saddled with deep insecurities and regret. Excellent original script and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a natural fleabag noun [C] (PERSON/ANIMAL). UK informal. a dirty and/or unpleasant person or animal.

It's very raunchy, and that may turn some people away; but if you can deal with that kind of thing it's a fantastic series.

After a colleague recommended this series to I had to binge it! I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters and in all honesty the series as a whole.

A lot of hype, because of all the awards won in 2020. But, was not impressed. Was okay, but did not live up to all the hype.

I don't like to see miserable people hanging around miserable people and not answer a single question asked of them truthfully. I don't like to see lonely people who will sleep with anyone and manipulate their relationship with those lovers to make themselves less lonely. I don't like to see friends betray each other. I don't believe the world has that many people who hunger for a connection so badly that they humiliate themselves and hurt everyone who actually cares for them. And I could not stop watching fleabag and it is all about those things I don't like to see. This show is about a woman who is miserable. She is getting to a place where she is understanding her role in the hurt she causes others and feeling her way enough to know she doesn't deserve all the disrespect coming at her from all sides. And it is funny and brilliant and awkward and moving. Some of the smallest bits are incredible, like when she and her Father both wipe their noses the same way at the same time after a conversation where they claim how different they are. It made me uncomfortable to watch at times but I think the point is to show how painful and painfully absurd life can be. I cried at the final episode, it was so touching at the end. I will definitely be watching out for season two.

This takes a long time to get going - I absolutely HATED the 1st three episodes and considered cutting my losses. While billed as a comedy, I only laughed about once an ep. It picks up later in the series but most of the characters are really annoying. I'm still on the fence, overall I guess it's worth it if you realize it's a drama with some humor and NOT straight-up comedy.

I thought at first that I would not like Fleabag. I feel so angry when I see individuals who do not value themselves or their bodies and allow themselves to be used for casual / painful / potentially damaging sexual behaviors. I chose to keep watching. To be known as Fleabag ( a nickname for Phoebe ) reveals the protagonist's loss of her own identity as a valuable human being - she does not even deserve to have a name. Finding out the reason for her shame at the end of season 1 was heart-breaking!! Recommend. Kristi & Abby Tabby

The most talked about line is about the rubber end of a pencil. This one is in wikiquote:

Bank manager: People make mistakes.
Fleabag: It's why they put rubbers on the ends of pencils.
Bank manager: Is that a joke?
Fleabag: I don't know.
Fleabag is in fact referencing a joke that is not posted in wikiquote, at least not yet:

Boo: OK, an 11-year-old boy was put in juvenile prison for repeatedly sticking rubber ended pencils up his school hamster's arsehole.

Fleabag: What?

Boo: Yeah. Why would they do that?

Fleabag: Apparently he liked it when their eyes popped out.

Boo: No, why would they send him away? He needs help. ... They shouldn't have just locked him up. ... Yeah, but he's obviously not happy, happy people wouldn't do things like that.

Fleabag: Fair point.

Boo: And anyway, that's the very reason why they put rubbers on the end of pencils.

Fleabag: To f*ck hamsters?

Boo: No, because people make mistakes.
