I did find this a great read and a different perspective from the now popular movie about Bletchley Park. The hubris of the British administration is heartbreaking and I am glad this character escapes less scathed than Alan Turing. I think this is a solid contribution to the novels of WWII Britain

If you are expecting a true account of the code-breaking at Bletchley Park, you may be disappointed, as this is a thriller with war events and code-breaking as a background.

On the other hand, if you rented a condo, had lots of time to read (swinging in a hammock, say), and this book was among the few books in the condo's small collection, and you didn't care about historical accuracy, "Enigma" would be a terrific read. As a thriller, the book was engaging, with lots of suspenseful plot twists.
