Transfer of Power was the first book published in Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp series. There have since been two prequels. Transfer of Power is set mainly in Washington DC as Islamic terrorists capture the White House and hold hostages. The President remains safe for the time being but an indecisive Vice President who would like the top job for himself blocks quick efforts to effect a rescue. The responsibility falls on Mitch Rapp to take out the terrorists and free the hostages. Transfer is a nail-biter and top notch thriller. On the down side there is no balance to the terrorists. I would like to have seen some good Muslims portrayed in the novel to offset the stereotypes. Also, I have a problem with some of Flynn’s grammar. Flynn never refers to “The person who did…” it’s always “The person that did…” While this usage has become common, editors should be pouncing on it. Flaws aside, Transfer of Power has great suspense, twists, and action sequences. Where’s the movie?
