This was the first book I have read by Anne Lamott. I was drawn to the book cover and it sounded like an uplifting read and it wasn't long. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. I am not particularly religious, but I was raised in a Methodist church and still feel a connection to certain parts of Christianity, particularly when you are in need of something positive in your life, such as hope. I did appreciate the author's candor in the ways she is imperfect and I really connected with her when she wrote about the importance of stories in our lives. If you are open to the idea of any higher power within humanity I would recommend, otherwise this book is probably not for you.
