Comment:158 minutes? Realized that it is a slow burn action crime drama but did not feel too slow, except one of the character on motherhood could be left off without adversely affect the overall theme that life can be hideously unfair in the many hands of society. The characters and their experiences are engaging and the winner at the end surprised me somewhat but okay with it. Mel Gibson's performance as the desperate cynic gives credibility to rest of the cast. And writer/director S. Craig Zahler (“Bone Tomahawk” 2015 and “Brawl in Cell Block 99” 2018) confirmed in the bonus featurette: the “Moral Conflict: Creating Cinema that Challenges” that the film's is a story on moral relativism in today's winner takes all environment.
